Frequently Asked Questions
Is it safe?
Pesticides used by Cairns Termite Specialists are registered with the relevant authorities and have been tested using the LD50 Testing program. No products used by our Technicians have been deemed dangerous to family or pets. No side effects have been reported. Therefore there is no need to vacate family or pets, except under extremely rare conditions. These situations are approached in a different manner. The Technician will establish if there are matters of concern and you will be directed to a course of action.
The chemicals and baits we use are specially selected for their safe use in the home. Our Technicians have in-depth knowledge of all our products and carefully assess the situations in which sprays and baits are used. Safety for health and environment is all part of our "Reduced-Risk Pesticide Program".
Are there any guarantees?
Yes, free service periods are included with the largest part of our services. Inspections and reports have a complete set of terms and conditions that apply to them alone.
Will our children be safe?
Yes, your children and infants will be safe. Our Technician will advise you about proper aeration and any other issues he may find on initial arrival.
I'm pregnant. What about baby and me?
There is no risk to pregnant women and their unborn children. The reason for wanting to vacate the building for a short time would most likely be due to a reaction with unfamiliar smells more than chemical smells as such. Any unpleasantness is not a health issue. Some people simply react differently. For example, some pregnant woman cannot bear to refuel the car because of the petrol fumes.
Will my pets be safe?
No harm will come to your pets - cats, dogs, birds, fish, or otherwise. Simply let our Technician know if you have fish or birds, then just follow his instructions to keep them safe.
I'm allergic to many products. Do I need to leave the premises?
The answer is 'no' in most cases. However, if you'd feel more comfortable being out of the building during treatment, there is no reason to delay your return shortly afterward.
How long will treatment take? What's involved?
Our Technician will determine the requirements on initial inspection. There are no set rules. Each service follows its own course of action. How long a treatment takes depends on various factors, many of them unpredictable. An estimate only can be given. Access to all sectors of the building is essential.
How much will it cost and what services are involved?
Once you've had a full discussion about your termite control needs with our sales staff, prices can then be equated and a formal quote provided to you. A description of the actions proposed by Cairns Termite Specialists will also be conveyed to you.

What can I do to help the Termite Control Technician?
